Some recentish crochet projects

So anyway as my current makes seem to be taking an age / haven’t been started yet …… whoops …… I thought I’d give you a taster of some of the things (which turned out OK) that I have made recently.  So to start off I thought I’d share a bit of crochet.  Now I only took up crochet in summer 2009 when I was busy dog and house sitting for my parents.  My sister said “give it a go it’s easy” so armed with hook, wool, instruction sheet and a laptop I started, very painfully to begin with, but once I’d mastered the tension it was a dream.  And I think crochet remains my go to for easy, sat in front on the TV type projects, perfect for winter.
Enough waffle, so the first blanket I did was in very easy granny square rounds which are great as you don’t have to change colour/sew in ends too much.  I was pleased with this but this definitely benefited from blocking out as the corners were really exaggerated?? It just looked weird.  But after blocking it was a passable square.

Another blanket, this was done with a “Summer garden granny square” which I borrowed from the fabulous Lucy at Attic24 (for any beginners out there her tutorials are so easy to follow : ).  I love doing granny squares, and joining as you go is a must in my opinion.

The edging of the blanket took ages, 9 rounds and then some bobble edging

This little mat I love.  It was easy to do and very simple but looks really effective especially in the wool I used.  I think I got the pattern from this book “100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet” by Lesley Stanfield.

And this is where it sits on the sideboard with my bargain green bowl (£2 at carboot).

When I think about what I’ve made there’s quite a lot really, despite the huge amounts of wool I have shoved in random places around the house.
Hmmmmm cushions, amigurumi animals, cute baby hats and booties, the snake ………… I’ll try to photo some other things to share soon.  Anyhow must go and do something useful.
Bye for now

  1. Really love the colours you've used for your blankets. I've also followed attic24 but haven't got round to starting a 'crochet' project. Looking forward to seeing some more finished projects. Sarah
